N^o 54 War department December 22. 1792. Sir, I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letters of the 12^th and to inclose with this one [undecipherable]. I had on the 8^th instant received Brigadier General Wilkinsons letter of the 7 inclosing the copies of which he has furnished to you. But I have not yet received any of a later date when his highly confidential letters arrived mentioned in his of the 18^th [undecipherable] — [undecipherable] copies [undecipherable] to be [undecipherable] to you. In memorial [undecipherable] to the Indians and your observations thereon have been submitted to the President. The subject will be by him considered and you informed of the result.
