Sir,
The post not having arrived, I have no letter of yours to acknowledge — I enclose a duplicate of my last.
I hope the Comptroller may have complied with your invitation to visit you, and that you may prevail upon him to come to this place. If any thing should prevent his coming to you, pray you to send him an invitation forthwith and urge him to come to this place — He is much wanted to inform of and explain facts contained in the communications of the Six Nations heretofore sent, the last by Pensacola him to come here as far as possible, as an inducement you may hold forth to him responsible rewards they have allotted for that Jacob [undecipherable]. Judges have been sent to the hostile Indians that the United States will treat them at this time and place proposed appointed —
The notes for the pay have been delayed but will be forwarded in a few days.
No new impulses have been added to the recruiting service by bounty and from appearances it is impossible that any will be effected.
I have the honor to be
with great esteem,
Your most Obedient Servant
H. Knox
N.B. just received yours of the 8. instant.
