[Col. James O'Hara]
[Quarter Master General]
Philadelphia Nov. 1st 1792
Sir,
Your letter of the 19th Ulto came duly to hand — in consequence of its immediate application was made in form prescrib'd for fifty thousand Dollars— and this day a Warrant is issu'd for thirty five thousand Dollars from which I am directed to deduct the amount of a small estimate previously prepar'd. for furnishing the hure furniture and send the remainder which shall be done without a moments loss of time — but here it will be proper to inform you that the Secretary of the Treasury admits only twenty five hundred dollars to be forwarded in Specie which agreeable to your request shall come forward in Dollars and other Silver Coins — the remainder in Notes shall be in equal proportions of the Denominations you request — and they shall be properly inclos'd and sent to you by Post; not all at once, for obvious reasons but by two or three Successive parts. I mention this precaution supposing it possible it may affect your arrangements — The Silver part of the Remittance I hope to have on the way on Monday or Tuesday next — & the Subsequent part shall bring on a Moiety of the Notes — time would not admit of any portion of the Money's going forward by this Conveyance —
The hure supplies are in Forwardness and will be loaded next Week and the paper also mention'd in the same Indent.
I am Sir
Your Most Ob. Servant
