[Copy] [Endorsement: Copy of a Letter from The Breath & Charles Chiefs of the Cherokees of the 15 Septem. 1792 to Governor Blount] Lookout Mountain Sep 15. 1792 [undecipherable: Friend & Brother,] We have heard your letter you sent to [undecipherable] the Bloody fellow, the Bloody fellowes [undecipherable] and the Chief is gone to Little Turkey we are very glad to hear it was in our power to stop the Young [undecipherable] from going to War with the White men Elder Brothers as our [undecipherable] & your people a living as one we are together you & them is so near each other, You mention that we ought to Consider matters more before beginning a War it is very true War is very bad and I hope you not as [undecipherable] see no more of it but live in peace. But we are sorry to inform you, you may think it a lie but we assure you it is the truth that we are very sorry that four days after our people had dispersed to their different homes there were a great number of Creeks passed by here for several days, it was out of our power to stop them. they said there was several hundreds crosed the river low down and had with them 500^d of powder & lead [undecipherable] they said they were going to Cumberland it is not the principal head men of the Creeks nation but young fellows and indeed a great number of them boys. They said that Col: Robertson and General [undecipherable: Pickens?] had told [undecipherable] what we before told you that they would go [undecipherable] Robertson at his home. We are much obliged to you for your advice in telling us to take [undecipherable] as the innocent would undoubtedly suffer. We have told you of the troops always going and we hope you will not let any of our people suffer for the bad doings of the [undecipherable] for we tell you they are gone, the exact number we do not know. We heard that John Sevier says it [undecipherable] not be long before he goes out for War that he is to come to this place & [undecipherable] about here and that there is another Warrior to come with any Army from Tugulo in order to destroy the nation Such talks makes our Young people very uneasy we could wish that your warriors would not send Such talks unless you intend to do so. thus from Your friends & Brothers [Signed] The Breath and Charles.
