In the absence of the Secretary of War, who is gone to New York, but expected to return this day, I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter to him of the 17th instant, together with the communications from General Paterson, Captain Cof[undecipherable] — and I now transmit you, enclosed a copy of the Secretary's letter to you dated the 1st instant.
You have also herewith transmitted your invoices of Clothing — military and hospital Stores sent forward from the 20 to the 23 of August inclusive.
