West Point Aug. 6th 1792
Sir,
Your favor of the 21 came to me by Lt. [undecipherable] & [undecipherable] I have received, and have agreeably to your instructions receipted to him for the mens pay, and my salary, you sent to me by him. I now enclose the mens receipts for their money, with a sketch & statement of the same.
I thank you for paying the hundred dollars on the draft in favor of Mr. Sullivan. On the 26th of April I forwarded to Mr. Sullivan by the post, the draft and account with a letter of advice to Gen. Knox, and the same day forwarded to the General by the post the vouchers. I had every reason to expect the vouchers would have been received prior to the amount & draft.
Lt. [undecipherable] informs me Major Stagg told him the said vouchers, were in the War Office, and that he would furnish you with them.
I would wish to remark, that one set of accounts & vouchers it will be in my power to furnish; but a second set of vouchers for many small articles purchased by different persons to oblige me, in New York, and other places, it has been, & will be impracticable for me to procure.
I did imagine the accounts and vouchers were delivered into your [undecipherable], and the duplicates of the accounts [undecipherable] to the Office of the Secretary of War.
I am Sir,
Your obedient
Humble servant,
Geo. Fleming
