August 2. 1792.
Sir,
I enclose you a duplicate of my letter of the 26 June and a triplicate of my letter of the 11 July 1792.
Besides the necessary business of mustering and Inspecting your companies, I have been induced by the remoteness of your situation and the difficulty of communication to forward you the money most easy for your personal equipments and one months pay for your men and also your final orders.
Your equipments of arms, accoutrements and clothing and also tents will be transported from Pittsburg by Major [undecipherable] to Point Pleasant the mouth of the great Kenhawa, at which place you will find them under a proper escort.
Captain Gibsons company being [undecipherable] will escort your company from Green Briar Court House to Point Pleasant The difficulty of transporting your arms and clothing to the said Court House was almost insuperable, and Captain Thomas Lewis at the time of his receiving his recruiting orders was of opinion there would be no difficulty in obtaining a sufficient number of Arms and a proportion of ammunition to serve as a Security. but I hope Captain Gibsons company will be an abundant protection for all who shall march at the same time
Those recruits who shall be afterwards inlisted and repair to Point Pleasant they must take their own arms if they have any or the Officer must endeavor to accomodate them with a sufficient number for the loan of which to be returned at Point Pleasant, a reasonable compensation shall be made by the United States.
I am Sir
Your humble Servant
