State of Virginia, July 24^th 1792 I have received your letter of the [13^th?] instant and now enclose you a Copy of Berry Bowyers order for the letter directed to him which came to me in your letter of the 8^th of [March?], and also [undecipherable] Murray's Receipt for the same — The letter alluded to in Cap^t Bowyer's letter to me was immediately forwarded to the Secretary of War since which another letter has been rec^d from Cap^t Bowyer addressed to the Secretary of War which was also immediately forwarded on the receipt — the latter [undecipherable] contained his acknowledgment for the five hundred Dollars. — I am very respectfully Sir Your ob^t Serv^t Peter Lyons for J^no Hopkins Com^m Loans State of Virg^a [Copy] M^r John Hopkins Botetourt 3^d June 1792 Sir, I received your letter of the 16^th of last month informing me a letter from the Secretary of War addressed to me was in your Hands, which letter contained National Bank Notes to the amount of Five hundred Dollars as you were informed, as my business will not admit of my personal application, You will please to deliver the said letter to the Bearer M^r Archibald Murray who will pass a receipt to you for the same for my use, I have directed M^r Murray to open the letter in your presence that you may be a witness to the Contents — I have taken the liberty of directing a Letter to the Secretary of War, to be forwarded by you, which please to forward by the first Post, have requested the Secretary of War, to direct any orders he may have for me to your care, should any come to your hands please to enquire of Mess^rs Boyd & [undecipherable] for an Opportunity to this place (Copy) I am very respectfully Sir Your ob.
