War department,
July 14th 1792.
Sir.
I have been favored with your letter of the 8 th instant.
I request that you will forward West Point, by water, addressed to Captain George Fleming, all the public flores in your possession which may be fit for use. I was not conscious of there being so considerable a quantity at Providence. I rely on your procuring a vessel at the cheapest rate, to transport them. Please to transmit me a return of the flores used, and of such as remain which are unserviceable.
With respect to the two field pieces, I will thank you to inform me, in what order they are in, and the possession of the artillery company under Col. Tillinghast. I am Sir,
with Esteem,
