Head Quarters Fort Washington, July 18th 1792 at a Gen. Court Martial, held the 11th inst. whereof Maj. [undecipherable] was President. Mr. [undecipherable] Sheck, Superintendent of [undecipherable] - was tried charg'd with contempt of the Commanding Gents Orders - to which charge, he plead Not Guilty - The court having deliberated on the Evidence adduced against Mr Sheck, are of opinion he is Guilty of the charge, being a breach of Sub. 18 Claus 2 of the Rules & Articles of War, And conceiving the [undecipherable] of the misdemeanor to Spring - from the Principles of Inattention, [undecipherable] in the mind by the insolent Spirit of the late Quarter Master General Samuel Hodgdon, together with their personal [undecipherable] of the [undecipherable] & [undecipherable] contempt of said Sheck in Matters incompatible with his Office - Sentence him to be reprimanded in General Orders.
The Brig.t Gen.l approves the Sentence, and hopes Mr Sheck, and every other Military Dependants, may derive a just Lesson from the occasion - A moments reflection, must tell Mr Sheck, that he may become subject to the rank of the youngest Ensign in the Army; his deportment should therefore, be marked in every Instance by a respectful obedience, and not by an affected Confidence, or vain impertinence.
