Line] [Power of Attorney David Ripley] [David Ripley Power] [undecipherable] [undecipherable] Know All Men by these Presents, That I David Ripley of the County of [undecipherable] a soldier of the Line of New York — in the Regiment commanded by Colonel [undecipherable: probable reading Winekoff] do make, constitute and appoint Ebenezer [undecipherable] of the State of Pennsylvania my true and lawful Attorney, and do substitute him in my Place and Stead, with full Power and Authority to ask, demand, and receive in my own Name, and for my Use and Benefit, all [strikethrough: proper and] Arrearages of Cloathing due to me from the Public for my Services in the Regiment aforesaid, and upon receiving a Certificate or Certificates therefor from the Register of the Treasury or other proper Officer, with full Power to transfer said Certificate, and to sign in my Name a full Acquittance of Claim to the Arrearages aforesaid; and do further invest him with ample Authority, a Substitute or Substitutes under him for the aforesaid Purposes to constitute and appoint. Hereby ratifying and confirming all that my said Attorney and Substitute, or his Substitute or Substitutes shall or may do in Virtue hereof.
