Pittsburgh June 22– 1792
Dear Sir,
I have this moment recd yours of the 15th inst. pr post with the inclosures; and will pay due attention to every part of the instructions & orders you have been pleased to communicate
Mr Findlay, Major McCaley of the State troops, and the County Lieutenants of Alleghany & Westmoreland, are now with me — for the purpose of determining upon the most effective & oeconomical mode of protecting the inhabitants whilst [underline: Harvesting] — Colo Elliot the Lieutt of Westmoreland is very solicitous to borrow a few stand of arms, for which he will be accountable — I have parried the requisition for the present, by telling him we had but a few at this post and that I did not know what arrangements may have been made for the recruits expected here — Major McCaley has sent a detachment to examine a trail, supposed to be made by Indians — at present every thing remains quiet — but I expect some attempts will be made upon the most exposed frontiers, about the full of the moon, by small predatory parties: means will be taken to fall in with some of them either in their advance or upon their return. — the post waits I therefore conclude & am Sir your most obt
