Fort Washington June 21st 1792
Sir
Since my last letter of the 12th (without number) which was forwarded by Col. Hodgdon, nothing material has occured on this quarter, nor had any thing transpired from the messengers who were dispatched from this Post with the pacific Overtures to the Enemy.—
Yesterday received dispatches from Major Huntresanck of which the enclosed are exact Copies, and I have for conceiving it may prove satisfactory to the President, and to yourself, enclosed the Deposition of a young Gentleman of veracity, relatively to Indian affairs.—
A party of the Kentucky mounted Volunteers have arrived, and are to march with a convoy for Fort Jefferson, To morrow or the next Day.— In order to see the arrangements which I have directed for securing a Quantity of Hay, carried into complete effect, I shall by this occasion visit the out posts, and will leave undone nothing that can be done, to accomplish my purpose, which if the war proceeds will be found immensely important.—
I do not hear a word of Genl Wayne — I am this moment informed General Putnam is at Muskingum, and have the Honor to be with great consideration & Respect,
Sir
Your most Obedient
very Hble Servt
William Darcy
