By directions of the Secretary of War I have drawn and forwarded to you one thousand Dollars in Bank Bills, to enable you to pay the Transportation of Rifles & other public issues in the Quarter Master Generals Department — as I expect you will have letters from the War Office informing of this remittance and the uses to which this money is to be appropriated. I need not enlarge —
I will thank you to transmit me a Receipt for it by the first safe conveyance after you receive it under cover to the Secretary of War —
