In conformity with the instructions of the Secretary of [strikethrough: the] Treasury I now transmit you the receipts of William Webster Captain of Cavalry for 30th Doll 60 Cents — of Tabitha Fleming Lieut &ca for 145 . . 60 — of Mr. Webb Cornet Do for 159 . . 60. being parts of the 1155 Dos remitted me from the Treasury on the 30th Ult.
I have informed Capt Boyer Solt Lt. Co. here, for whom the remainder is to be paid, of my having the notes for them, and expect they will soon make application for receiving the sums to which they are respectively entitled, as pr. your letter of advice.
You will also receive enclosed Capt. Ballard his Rect. for 457 Dol 6[undecipherable] remitted from the Treasury on the 4th Inst to be paid him by your advice.
You mentioned that [you] to transmit to you both the duplicate rects. which I was directed to take in each case — in however you must be mistaken, as the Secretary of the Treasury expressly directed that I should keep one with me. I presume you will readily
readily perceive the propriety of doing so for my own safety.
