Pittsburg June 8^th 1792. D^r Sir I arrived here on Saturday last in good Order — and shall proceed on monday next for Fort Franklin to Settle with Captain [undecipherable: Biffs?], the Indians &c — Lieut Jeffers's party of Rangers will escort me there — I have written for him as the woods are pretty well lined with the hostile tribes — Jeffers made a Small Stroke at them last week which you will perceive by the papers of this place — I will thank you to look at the Subsistence Roll of the 1st Regiment for 1790 and inform me the amount of L^t Carmichals Subsistence by the first opportunity — I shall have to remain here until some troops descen the Ohio — the water is now very low — Please present my Compliments to M^r Harmar & family — to the Lads in War Office &c &c &c, &c Your D Willis [recd] [88 Joseph Howell J^r Esq^r Accountant to the War department Philadelphia (m) A.
