[Major Gen Knox — No 1]
[Just Answ]
York 4th June 1792.
Dear Sir,
I was much pleased to find upon my arrival at Lancaster, that Lieutt. Mc Campbell had enlisted Forty recruits for the Dragoon service, which when added to those at Elizabethtown will fully complete Cap Stake's troop — a circumstance that will probably induce you, to order them for Pittsburg immediately. — I am also happy to hear from Cap Delknan that he has enlisted to the amount of one hundred Riflemen who are now in Washington, but destitute of Arms or Clothing — he is this far on his way to Phila in order to Settle some recruiting accounts of the last Campaign — and is very solicitous to proceed having come upwards of 200 miles, an indulgence that I am induced to grant him, in consideration of his success in recruiting; especially as he promises to return with all possible expedition.
May I take the liberty to reiterate my request that you will be so obliging, as to order on all the troops both Cavalry & Infantry, now raised, for the purpose of being organized & disciplined: and Cause one to be with them Arms of most ult Hamt Servt.
