Sir
I received yours of the 16th [undecipherable] informing me a letter from the Secretary of War directed to one [undecipherable] [undecipherable] to me received from [undecipherable] which letter contained [a] [undecipherable] Bank note to the amount of Five hundred Dollars as you were informed, of me having received will account of any personal application. You will please to deliver the same letter to the Bearer Mr Archibaldo Murray, who will bring a receipt [undecipherable] for the same for my use, [undecipherable] direction Mr Murray to [undecipherable] this letter in your presence that you may be a witness to the contents.
I have taken the liberty of enclosing a Letter to the Secretary of War, to be forwarded by you.
