John Hopkins Botetourt 3^d June 1792 Sir, I received your letter of the 16^th of last mouth informing me a letter from the Secretary of War addressed to me was in Your Hands, which letter contained National Bank Notes to the amount of Five hundred Dollars as you were informed, as my business will not admit of my personal application, You will please to deliver the said letter to the Bearer M^r. Archibald Murray who will pass a receipt to you for the same for my use, I have directed M^r. Murray to open the letter in your presence that you may be a witness to the contents. I have taken the liberty of directing a Letter to the Secretary of War, to be forwarded by you, which please to forward by the first Post, have requested the Secretary of War, to direct any orders he may have for me to your care, should any come to your hands please to enquire of Mess^rs. Boyd & Kerr for an Opportunity to this place (Copy) I am very respectfully Sir Your ob^t. Serv^t. Henry Bowyer Cap^t. of Infantry Rec^d. Richmond June 8^th 1792 of John Hopkins of Peter Lyons [?] a letter directed to Henry Bowyer a Captain of Horse in the service of the United States containing five hundred dollars in post Notes which I am authorised to receive by the within letter (Copy) Arch^d. Murray The foregoing are copies of Henry Boyer's order for a letter directed to him by Joseph Bowell esquire and Archibald Murray's Receipt for the same filed in the Office of John Hopkins [undecipherable] Loans for Virginier, the post Notes were counted in my presence by Archibald Murray and amounted to the exact sum of Five hundred Dollars Peter Lyons.
