You will take your departure to morrow for the Several Nations in the Vicinity here, and will proceed by such Route as in Your Judgement may appear most conducive to the Just, Certain and expeditious accomplishment of this Errand — The great Object of your Mission, is to reclaim the Chiefs of those and the Neighbouring Nations to accompany you to Philadelphia immediately by Pittsburgh, or by the Post, as Should this to be most Suitable — you are if possible to prevail on them to accompany you to the Wilds where you will fall in with Major Newman, and by your joint [undecipherable] will accomplish which as general a Convention of the tribes as possible; before this Object is attained in the highest Degree possible, the Speech from the President must be delivered to them in due form, and having called to this Speech &c as the formation and transactions considered with the Instructions of the Secretary of War, as many appear to be Jeopardize among the
