I have Received your favor of the [undecipherable] Instant. the powder shall be lifted as soon as the River comes to hand, it shall also be listed and the Comparative Strength of each sort Ascertained; Provided the Commanding Officer his Instructions to give me the necessary assistance. the Ten Sums of Boat Iron will be delivered at this time — I believe the furnace is now at work Casting the Shot. I shall however send a man tomorrow to the furnace to ascertain that point —
The Sheet Iron is not yet come forward nor is any of the dismounted Cannon Except two come to hand — the Camp Kettle, shall be pushed forwards with all possible dispatch as soon as the Sheet Iron arrives, — I have been under the necessity of borrowing Money, to satisfy the Boat Builder and their workmen, I am exceeding mortified, that I have not been Enabled by this Dept to Repay it —
The fifty Boats now Ready will Conveniently transport three thousand Men, they are the best Boats that ever have come to this place, and I believe much the Cheapest —
