Port Washington 5^th May 1792 Dear Sir — N^o 49 I have but a moment to acknowledge the receipt of your last faveur — and to enclose a line to my Wife through you — to this moment I am ignorant of the decision of Congress and the great news at Headquarters relative to my department; I am indeed am I very Solicitous for the event but most cordially thank you for your friendship and information — if they can get a greater slave then there men — and one that will do their business with more economy than I have done I am willing — but sure I am the blundering [undecipherable] introduction is not the man I should have been glad I have been in Philadelphia — but it was [undecipherable] sible, without injury to the States — it would I am sure have been better for me — but I am not despondent and therefore not anxious — commend me to your good Lady, and all the family — you shall soon hear from me again.
