Dear Sir Berkeley 22d April 1792
It apears by Captain Hannahs Act that he Does not Give Credit for the Money paid to his Company at Winchester Nor has he Charg'd it in his Account. I have gave Go for that Money Receiv'd of Gent Butler. So that I am to have Go for it in my Act. I undirposed Captain Hannah he had Receiv'd it or I Should have Charg'd it in My Account. he had Charg'd the Money for the Soldiers Cloathing and a month pay to the officers amounting to 319 Dollars and the money paid to the Soldiers and officers in July on the Ohio except a Small Mistake which he paid to the Line but the Money advanced to the Soldiers of his Company in May at Winchester he gave No Credit for, as it was paid by Captain Hathan the Soldiers are Charg'd with it, you will See by the pay Rolls that money was 2 Dollars ⅔ D Cent to the privates and 3 and 60 to the Sergeants. The Money paid on the Ohio was one Dollar To the privates ¾ a dollar and a third to the Sergeants and Corporals, this Sum you I expect will find Charg'd to the Soldiers, which will Convince you I am not Mistaken, Capt Hannah had but 70 men when they were paid at Winchester and No Corporals the money Ohio was 48½ privates ⅔ & Sergeant, and amounts to 166- 50 This Sum of 166- 50 I am to be Credited for in my Act which you will oblige me to do, as I declare on my honor it is Just & Should be So — Capt Hannah has Gave Go for 454- 90 But Should have Gave Credit for 642- 50 21 Do[c?] ⅔ Cent be paid to me Which Deducting the 21- 2 and the 166- 50 from the 642- 50 you will find the 454- 90 — which 454 90 is Credited by Captain Hannah, I hope I have explain'd the Matter to your Satisfaction as I am Certain there is No Mistake am Sir
