For the purpose of reimbursing the State of Virga for advances made to the Militia — and agreably to your desire have offered the same to the Treasurer, who refuses to take them. The Supervisor being absent from hence, prevents my receiving of him the Money for the drafts, — and the Bank Notes will be exchanged for Cash, as soon as possible and the whole paid to the Treasurer — When, I shall be able to forward you the Receipts agreably to your request. I shall myself be in Phila early in May, & [strikethrough: before] you will obtain the Receipts as sooner if I can obtain Specie for the Notes so as to make the payment.
