This will be handed you
by Capt John Hobby of Portland, who
visits Philadelphia for the purpose of
adjusting some demands he has against
the United States, and I believe he will
find it necessary to consult you on the
subject, in that case I am sure you will
give him every advice & assistance in
your power ——— you may remember
I sometime since mentioned to you that
Capt Hobby, was a proper person for one
of the Inspectors of the Militia, and that
he was desirous of obtaining that appoint-
ment in the Province of Maine — if
there any appointment in the Militia
Bill, to be made by the President of
the United States, that may be an object
to Capt Hobby, I solicit your influence
in his behalf. he is a Man of arrangement
and well acquainted with detail duty,
capable, active, of the first honours and
integrity, and in whom the highest con-
fidence may be placed —— your
