I have directed the Paymaster to transmit you One thousand dollars. five hundred of which are to be delivered to Captain Edward Butler and the other five hundred to be delivered to Captain Richards Sparks provided they or either of them accept their appointments — But before the delivery they must take the military oaths prescribed by the law, then must give you triplicate receipts for the money which you will transmit to Mr Howell —
