Philadelphia 17 March 1792 My dear Sir, I have received several letters from you lately, recommendatory of characters for the military service, for all which I sincerely thank you. Your letters have all been laid before the President of the United States, and several of the characters have been appointed upon your recommendation. I shall by the next post if possible transmit you the result of the claim for the reimbursement of the defensive protection of Kentucky which I flatter myself will be satisfactory to you.
