Sir.
The wise and consequent effect of the Speculation known, The Miamis Towns and the Situation of Affairs between the United States and the Wabash and Maumee hostile Indians North West of the Ohio are well known to you and the Inhabitants of the vicinity generally.
The President of the United States in order that provision should be made for the Reduction of the frontier adequate to the occasion, had before the leg — islature a full Statement of the Indian Depredations.
The result of the deliberations of Congress will be communicated to you by the Honorable Mr Monroe. I find it affords high Satisfaction to the President of the United States, could a firm peace be established without further effusion of blood, and although he considers the dearest principles of humanity and a regard to the Welfare of the Country dictates that he should take every proper arrangement to bring the Miamis Indians —
