[undecipherable: pages wholly or in part illegible per archival notation] Philadelphia March 6^th 1792 I have received your Letter of the 17 Ult^t and agreeable to your request I send you by Charles Andersons Waggon a [quarter?] Cask (or rather a Barrel) of Sherry Wine, purchased of Conard Dorseys, which he informs me is of the same quality as that forwarded to you last Summer – I inclose you a Copy of the Bill, which is £14. 10. 11 – there is no permit nece[ssary] and the Duty is paid by the Importer, and I suppose laid on the Wine by the Seller – M^r Dorseys Bills for the last quarter Cash of Shery Wine purchased of him on the 1^st of July last Am^t £14. 19. 0 – and the other for Sugar & Coffee purchased on the 22 July last, Am^t £21. 18. 2 are yet unpaid and creates [him?] a good deal of uneasiness on account of this and says they are of longer standing than is usual to give Credit for – I have still put him off in expectation that M^r Hodgson would arrive – and as he is not yet come I will thank you to inform me whether you settled with him for the last two Bills, and if you have I will immediately pay M^r Dorsey the Amount out of M^r Hodgsons Monies – the Barrel now sent I have promised to pay for on the Return of the Waggoner with your receipt for [the] delivery of it at [Pittsburg] – I have informed the waggoner [he] would pay Transportation of it, which will be at the rate of five Dollars [?] I shall wish to know at same time, whether you will make remittances for the Payment of it, or whither it is to be paid out of M^r Hodgsons Monies and charged to you by him I have also forwarded to you at the same time a Box containing Six Reams of writing Paper, one Ream of which is of a superior quality to the others, and was purchased for the purpose of forwarding for the use of your Office – the others are taken from the Public Store and is far from being of the best quality, but I thought it would answer to issue out for the Troops – You have also Charles Andersons Receipts for the Barrel of Wine and the Box of Paper inclosed – I wish them safe & speedily to hand – I am &c Your most Obedient Servant H Knox [addressed:] Major Isaac Craig
