Sir
I have Rec'd your letter of the 18th and have sent the two Soldiers to Reading - they marched yesterday morning with a Dollar in their pockets to defray their expences on the Road; I have paid Mr Boyd for keeping them since the time their Doctor Reported them - well, as by the Capt Instructions she could not receive it on his order after that period. The Gun-Smiths are just beginning to work to effect; the severity of the weather prevented any considerable supply, barrels worse, I expect for the term to come they will turn off a considerable number Weekly, and I have no doubt of completing our complement at this place, perhaps more. I have deferred closing the contract in expectation of a precedent from you but as I do not think it absolutely necessary especially as I have your instructions fully on the subject, shall go on in my own way without it if I do not receive it by the next post
