In pursuance of your directions communicated by Mr Vanden Broeck I have examined a Pay Roll transmitted by Governor Blout, for the pay of a Company of Militia raised by the Governors directions, to act as a guard to attend the Treaty held with the Indians on the banks of Holstein near the Mouth of French Broad. This company was commanded by Captain Hugh Beard and consisted of One Captain, 1 Lieut. one Ensign 2 Serjeants 8 Corporals, &70 privates, whose term of service was at different periods from the 30 May to the 9 July 1791. and whose pay amounts to three hundred and fifty three dollars 46/100 Cents.
