Sir.
I have received your letter of 5th Inst. upon which I will confer with the Secretary of the Treasury and let you know the result.
The late untoward event upon the frontiers will render it expedient, that all the recruits should be forward that way. The detachment therefore under lieut. Keck will march here, and you will please to furnish them with provisions and a passage to New Brunswick.
You will inform me what may be the expences incurred in consequence of my last of the 7th [undecipherable].
