Dear Sir,
This will be handed you by a Mr Thomas of your place, I have to inform you that I should have Sent the bags you order'd by Mr Wilkins. Horses which a part of them was to have Started this day, but am inform'd that the bearer Mr Thomas came express from Mr [undecipherable] to Stop the Horses, and receiving no line from you and Considering the fate of your army am at a loss to know if you will want them, the bags are all ready and are all nearly ready. There Mr Wilkins out of the first Brigade of Horses, I hear the news is [strikethrough: but that] last Post, write me a line if the are wanting and I will Ride some opportunity to send them, we have sent a List of the Kill'd & wounded. I see Col. Darke is amongst the list of Wounded, I trust he is not Mortally wounded—
A line from you on the Overals would be acceptable as I could wish to know how they are Dispos'd off and what fate they have met with in the General Check —
I shall write Brother James on the 15th [undecipherable] and order him to give your family notice of your Safety — If the overals are not Belted and not fell into the enemy's hand Shall depend on you to do and make the best of them you can, perhaps there will be as many of the Living Recruited as may want the Whole, —
