Fort Pitt 6th Oct 1791 Sir The Letters herewith enclosed arrived by Express, from Head Quarters yesterday, it appears that the Troops & Stores, had all arrived safe except Capt Buell, who was spoke by the Express, early in the Morning of the 2d Instt below Wheeling, all well & expected to reach Fort Washington 8th - Genl Harmer & Family is expected here in a few days, on his way to Philadelphia. I presume that any Intelligence of the Movements of the Army, that I can give is unnessary, as your Letters from Head Quarters must Convey full information.
I have Inclosed Returns of Stores at this post up to the 1st Instant, since which time 400 Shells 52 Inch & 48 pegs lead weight 4,496lb have come to hand, also 100 Hundred Horse Belts & Collars, these & the principle part of the Remaining Stores I shall forward by Capt. Haskel who is Expected here the 10th or 11th Instant. Messrs Turnbull & Marmie continued to pull down & sell the materials of the Fort, and have been lately so ill-natured as to institute a suit against me, for Pointing out a piece of Ground between the Fort & the Alleghany River - for Capt Buel to Encamp on, and notwithstanding several Detachments had before Encamped there, as the most Convenient place, before Genl Butler descended the Ohio, & Captain Newman since, &c no Injury ever done their property by the Troops & I then told them that Capt Buel was to halt only a few days to Refresh his Men, and that if any injury was done in that time I should make Restitution.
