Document 1791St. Clair informs Knox that his army has marched from the recently named Fort Hamilton and his numbers, exclusive of militia, are at two thousand. It is so late in the year that there is no time to build intermediate posts, the lack of which may prove harmful if the army has to march to the Miami villages.
