Fort Pitt 28^th Sept^r. 1791 Sir I have forwarded by Capt Buell Sundry Articles, as P^r Invoice, I intended to have sent on a larger quantity of powder, but Capt Buell was Unwilling to take charge of it. I shall therefore forward a larger quantity by Captain Harbet, whom I Expect at this post in ten days from this date. — Gen^l Knox Informs me that four hundred Shells of 5 Inch & [undecipherable] lead were forwarded from Philadelphia on the 9^th Instant, there Articles I Expect will arrive in time and on the next detachment that descends the Ohio [13] Gen^l Knox, Informs me also, that he Expects to March to Pittsburgh from the several Recruiting Stations by the 5^th of November Two hundred & Fifty Men, the last of these Men I am apprehensive will not arrive at this Post in time to proceed further, before the River is closed up. — Elliott & Williams have contracted to furnish the provision for the Ensuing Year I have not heard yet on what terms they have taken it. I have not yet heard of any [undecipherable] arrival at Fort Washington, no of any movement there — I am all anxiety to know what is going forward — M^r Allahan would not agree to any Acct but that he [undecipherable] — of Course his Acct is not paid he says the House that was Returned Cost only $9.10 and intended only as a Pack House, & further says, that if he had seen you before you left Wheeling, he would have obliged you to have paid for the Corn, or to have given Security for the payment of it — I have employed them as Govern. to Pilot Capt. Buell, at five pounds P^r Month till his Return, I have advanced him $70. to enable him to proceed, I have delivered to Capt Buell a number of New papers & Letters which have Come to hand, since Capt Buells departure — Be pleased to present my Respects to Gov. St. Clair, and tell him that Steven the Waggoner, that brought his Store from Philadelphia, says he was directed to Call on M. Sharp for a ten Gallon Cask of Spirits for Gov. St Clair, but that when he called, it was not filled, and that he did not call afterwards, this I think accounts for the Keg of Spirits — I am Dear Sir Your Ob^dt Hum^e Svt.
