Know all Men by these Presents that I Adam Shuman of Baltimore County in the State of Maryland Yeoman late a Private in Captain George McClelys Company in the Fifth Pennsylvania Regiment Commanded by Col. Bradley, in the Service of the United States of North America, have made, ordained, and constituted and by these Presents make, ordain, and constitute and in my place and Stead put and deputed George Carlinger of Baltimore County in the State of Maryland my true and lawful Attorney, irrevocable for me and in my Name and Stead, but to the sole use of him the said George Carlinger his Heirs and Assigns forever, to ask, demand, and by all the Lawful means recover and receive all Such Sum or Sums of Money as well as grants or Confirmations, Lands and Tenements, or other demands whatsoever due unto me by the United States or State of Pennsylvania, or any other Person or Persons acting under their Authority, and I also give and grant unto my Said Attorney full Power and Absolute Authority to Sell and dispose of all and Singular the Lands, Tenements, gratuites and donations which I may be entitled to, or of right may claim, in Virtue of any Act of the United States in Congress Assembled, or under the authority of any Act of the State of Pennsylvania for or by reason of my having Served in the Said Fifth Regiment of the Pennsylvania Line, And by good and Sufficient Assurances in the Law to grant, Convey and confirm
to the Purchaser or Purchasers the fee Semple, and inheritance thereof, hereby granting unto my Said Attorney full power and authority to appoint one or more Attornies under him or them for the purpose aforesaid. Ratifying and confirming all and Singular whatsoever my Said Attorney shall or may do in the Said Premises by Virtue hereof. In Witness whereof I have hereunto Set my Hand and Seal this Fifteenth day of September in the Year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and ninety one —

On the Fifteenth day of September AD One thousand Seven hundred and ninety one Before me Jacob Rindell one of the Judges of the Courts of Common plea of us and for the County aforesaid, Personally came Adam Shuman and on his Solemn Oath agreeable to Law did depose and Say that the Property expressed in the within Letter of Attorney by his free will and consent for a Valuable Consideration to him in hand paid was transferred to [George Carlinger?] the Attorney within named, and that he has not conveyed the whole or any part thereof, before the execution of the Said Letter of Attorney and directs that the Same may be Recorded as a deed. Witness my Hand Seal, the day and year first above written —
