Sir,
Your letter of the 3d, has been received.
The Secretary of War is by no means displeased with your conduct as a recruiting officer, on the contrary the number of men you have inlisted is a convincing proof that you have been very industrious in the business. The mode of drawing a bill on him for money was not altogether pleasing; however, he requests that you will persevere in obtaining an additional number of recruits — Money shall be forwarded for the purpose — You will please to deliver your recruits to the orders of Captain Smith.
I am Sir,
with great Esteem,
Your very humble Servt
