I am informed by Letters from several of the Collectors & Commissioners of Loans, that their accounts and Vouchers for Payments of pensions to Invalids, have been transmitted to your Office.
It would doubtless be a good regulation if the Officers who pay the pensions, were to transmit an Abstracts of those Payments to your Office, to enable you to judge of the propriety, which they make [undecipherable] of the [undecipherable] considera on the bounds, & the regularity [undecipherable] of their proceedings.
I think however that those accounts, which are accompanied with Vouchers ought to be deposited in the Treasury, where the allowances are to be made, and if no Objection to this arrangement occurs to you, I shall be glad to receive such accounts as are in your [undecipherable] that measures may be taken for a settlement. —
