18th August 1791.
Sir,
I have the honor to enclose a duplicated of mine to you of the 11th instant, and also a duplicated of mine to Major General Hardin of that date and of this day.
I presume Captain Nearman will not arrive at Fort Pitt until the 20th instant, and Captain Jones about the 1st of September. The other troops are on their marches, excepting a party of about thirty from New Hampshire who have not yet arrived at Winchester. Jones's detachment consists of about Ninety two Rangers.
But the Stores which have been written for have been forwarded duties from Fort Pitt on this route, excepting the S[undecipherable] mills which cannot be obtained in season for the campaign. As the most assiduous mode I have sent for some to meet point and expect them here hourly. When the river they will be forwarded. Some stores have been recently seized in this city, as at the recitals mentioned. I am told by Mr Cooper whose files was not of good quality, appearing that made by one alderman Jacob Francis. I have had some invoice of Jacob Francis made through, by taking the pains to send first to wit, Canners, Marshall and wife, and procured a 2d Bill
