I have received your letter of the fourth instant.
It is considered by the President of the United States as an existing Order, that all the troops for the Cannades had not descended the Ohio at the time you went.
The attention to the essential Duties to the Cannades should be permitted unless the idea of deriving protection of the Frontier against a late Cheifing induces the Cannades was insinuated alone for that purpose.
If you should therefore be then at Fort Pitt it is the decided Orders of the President of the United States that you repair to that Garrison with as possible dispatch together with all the Troop Sucess and Stores for the Cannades.
It has been constantly intimated that Captain Dwin over the loss on the troops for the Cannades and that no dependence could be relied on these you would cover with him.
