War-departm^ent, Aug. 10^th 1791. Sir, I request, that as soon as Ensign Tilton shall arrive with the recruits from New Hampshire, amounting to twenty eight men, that you would immediately provide him with a light wagon, to convey the baggage of his party to Trenton, to joint Buell's detachment, and to proceed on with him from thence, if Buell shall have left that place, until he overtakes him, when the waggon is to be discharged, and return to Brunswick. You will also furnish M^r Tilton's men with provisions, and every necessary equipment as the other recruits — M^r Howell, the paymaster, by this conveyance will transmit you a month's pay for this detachment, which I request that you will please to pay them in the manner as mentioned in his letter herewith enclosed.
