Document 1791Informs Hodgdon that the bills he had drawn will be paid. Expresses dismay at a reported need for additional supplies, particularly for shells, which cannot be obtained; casts aspersion on Turnbull & Marmie's Furnace, which has proved inadequate. Sir
I have received your letter of the 25th ultimo by the post, and also yours of the 9th ultimo, which has been lately received. — The bills for twelve hundred dollars which you have drawn shall be duly paid.
It is an unfortunate circumstance, to be sure that any additional Jones should be required at this time. The prices cannot be obtained in time for the campaign. But every thing possible shall be attempted. The dependance on Turnbull and Marmie has turned out ill.
I shall be unhappy if you receive this letter at Pittsburg — The President of the United States, the commanding general and the public Service all unite in requiring that all the troops and Jones shall have defended the Ohio.
Captain [undecipherable: Bralon?] Inspector will arrive about the eighth or tenth at Fort Pitt.
I am Sir
with great esteem,
Your humble Servant,
Samuel Hodgdon Esqr
