Sir,
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your favor on the 16th May, by the post this morning, covering a duplicate of yours of the 24th of June, containing General Scott's enclosures — your letter of the 28th of June and the letter of yours of the 20th of June have not yet been received.
Brigadier General Scott's dispatches were received by Lieutenant Bailey, on the 26th Ultimo. The Success of his expedition will probably be attended with exceeding beneficial consequences, and prepare the minds of the Indians on that peace, which may now send them from destruction.
I should hope by the time you have received this letter you will also become the whole of your force from Fort Pitt, [undecipherable] detachment included.
I have not heard from General Harmar since the 8th of June; then informed me that many of their conveyances were complete and would march in a few days. As he has summoned with money for all objects and clothing of those who would not in any pursuit.
