Sir In the absence of the Secretary at War who is now at New York I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter dated the 21. instant with the inclosure and to transmit you herewith a duplicate of my communications to you on the same date. Capt. Shearman of the 2^d Regt. of recruits with about 90 Men will leave this City to morrow morning for Fort Pitt. Captain Buell was to embark yesterday at Middletown in Connecticut for New Brunswick with a complete company of recruits for the 2^d Regt. on Wednesday — as soon as this Company arrives at New Brunswick it will immediately be march'd forward to Fort Pitt. We have received the missing musters of General Scotts [undecipherable] and the President of the United States has directed them to be published. I enclose you one of the news Papers.
