Sir,
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the thirteenth of June, by the post of this morning. Inclosed I send you a duplicate of mine of the fourteenth instant; the copy of the Contract of provisions, and a letter from the President of the United States to the Governor of Kentucky; a Copy of mine to Major General Butler of the fourteenth and of mine to him of this date.
Every letter to Major General Butler, combined with those written to you, you will observe the progress of your force, and the orders I have given him from time to time.
As Eastern Puller will probably be the last of the troops who will march from the standard of Fort Pitt, so as to be of service in your expedition, you will, before this, have formed some judgement of the average time you will receive from Kentucky, and have made your arrangements for obtaining it accordingly.
I have urged Mr Duer essentially to take all the necessary steps relative to an ample supply of provisions and to obtain the means necessary for the transportation thereof, and I am inclined to understand that he has made the arrangements accordingly. I sincerely hope this to be the case. But as he is now necessarily
