Alden, Rep. for Recruiting–the Card its given by Capt. Day are all voluntary, but which are qualifyed to agreeable to roster prescribed on [undecipherable] the balance old [undecipherable] Accounts of Colo. Alden & LtColo. Stacey do not appiar to have been settled neither in these any monies charged Capt. Day in the Books of this office. I therefore take it for granted that the sums credited on this account are the whole received by Capt. Day for the Recruiting Service–the subsistence due Lieut Benjamin Read is retained subject to his orders as no authority is produced by Capt.
