To Secretary of War5th May 1791 21 [circled upper left corner] Providence 5th May 1791 Sir I have been honor’d with your letter of 25th Ulto as soon as the Cloathing arrives the Contractor will immediately forward them to Mr. Bruce as you Direct– It is true Capt Sayles has been rather indecisive with Respect to his Commanding the Company–but I trust the matter is now fixed as I wrote you 25th Ulto on this Subject & Recommended a Deserving Character to fill that appointment–and I hope he will meet your favourable support, The Ensign of the Company is Industrious and is now Recruiting at Newport, he has inlisted six & I hear the Lieut has about that number– I shall with pleasure Urge their Exertions in Recruiting as well as in other matters that may have a Tendency to promote the public Interest– is it your Intention to have the Remainder of the Millitary Stores In this state, forwarded to West Point, if so I will call on Capt. [undecipherable] to take them– I have to Request your Determination as to the Two Brass Field Pieces in possession of the Artillery Company in this Town. I had the honor to write you on this the 5 Novr last on this Subject & I hope you will find it Consistant with the Public Interest arrangements to grant the Request I then made, that those Pieces Remain with the Company subject to your Future orders– I have the Honor to beSir Your Most Obed.
