War department March 22nd 1791 Sir I beg leave to request, that you will examine Fort Pitt, and its appendages, which are now in possession of the United States, and to decide upon such parts as are essential to be retained by the public. Under this description the magazine, and some store-houses and the officers barracks, may be comprehended, and to agree for the annual rent the United States shall pay for the occupance of the ground, after the first day of April next.
