Secretary of War United States Loan Office Boston 19 March 1791 S^r I wrote you 5 instant respecting Woreham Warren since which M^r Lucas has paid into this Office three thousand [381] Dollars final settlements which he says is fat[undecipherable] John Sleuman commutation upon which I paid said Sleuman pension [undecipherable] the Certificates account two thirds in Sleuman (named [undecipherable: in thy names?] and [undecipherable] One Henry Gates has applied for his pension but not being on the list you sent me I could not pay him this e M^r Lucas shew me a list of names from the[undecipherable] Office dat^to 25 May 1790 of several persons restored to their pensions all of which names are upon my list except Henry Gates, from which circumstance it is imagined that it was a mere omission in transcribing the list — You will please to inform me what I shall do with Sleuman commutation Certificates I have been summoned to appear at April Court as trustee for one of the Pensioners who has absconded please to inform me wh[ether] a Public Officer is considered as a trustee [undecipherable] in the money of a public creditor if so it subjects us to great [undecipherable] [undecipherable] I am S^r Y^r Hum^b Serv^t H A
