[stamped “The National Archives of the United States”] Lewis Town March ye 11th 1791 Dear Sir, Application hath been made to me by the Bearer Henry Ring [undecipherable] to assist him in obtaining his pay ass a Soldier from the Public, as I have no doubt of your general disposition for Justice and your friendship towards myself, I flatter myself I am warranted in asking your Aid & Assistance as far as the Duties of your Office will permit, as any services done for him I shall return a favour done myself, He enlisted in Col. Willm Graysons Regt in May or June 1777 in my Company– & in 1779 Wm Graysons Regt & Nathl [undecipherable] were incorporated & the Regt called Girts the Acct of the Regt were settled at Annapolis by Mr. White. The fellows name has been spelt different ways but the Manner I have spelt it, you will find is on the Rolls– I do not think he was ever Mustered after the Regt was commanded by Col.
